Yesterday CCC hosted the Curling at Altitude Cup at the SHPG testing grounds at the Snow Farm. Was a great day with 64 curlers on the ice. Unfortunately the afternoon curling was abandoned due to deteriorating ice conditions . Prize Giving ceremony took place in an adjoining workshop building. The Curling at Altitude Cup was won by a team from the Dunedin Curling Club. Because of an early finish, many of the visiting club members called into our Clubhouse to check out our facilities. Further hospitality was extended to everyone. Several curlers will be having a more subdued recovery day today. Shortly we hope to get some photos of the event up on our website

Looks like this winters curling will be over on our ice. From discussions with various clubs around the district we at least had a few days curling. Some clubs had none.
Next AGM should be a cracker as I think at least 3 members turned stones upside down during Saturdays competition. That 3 bottles on the bar for starters.
Your committees attention during the off season will be as a priority to acquire more club stones. If anyone has Scottish connections these would be useful as we look to evaluate second hand stones.
Any great ideas for fund raising most welcome
For time being cheers from your Committee

Friday Report
We still have ice. Sufficient for one person to walk on. But not for a group to curl on. We are hopeful that we still have some winter to come. Will update post when conditions improve for ice. In interim you need to find other other pursuits. 3 members doing just that.

Play Abandoned
To use cricket terminology. Play has been abandoned due to weather. No not bad light but inclement ice.
Curling last night bur very marginal. Currently water over half of the ice. Need jack frost to bat for a innings before play recommences. In the interim any of us might get a call up from the Aussi's to help out in the Ashes. Couldn't do any worse!!!
